Opstaele

Sam Opstaele is a Belgian jazz guitarist and composer mainly active in the (gypsy) swing jazz world.
He got to know the guitar around the age of 16 and as a self-taught young talent he made his way to the jazz scene, after which he enjoyed lessons with Tcha Limberger and Koen De Cauter, among others.
From there he built up stage experience as rhythm guitarist in a few bands with Koen De Cauter who then introduced him as a soloist in the band LAMORAL quartet. This would be the basis of his own further endeavours.
His playing can be described as refined towards classical swing jazz with a great urge for innovation.
A unique jazz guitarist influenced as much by pianists and horn players as he is by guitarists. His original take on harmony, chords and improvisation sets him apart from other gypsy guitar players.
